November 17th - English 8

- Reminder of final novel test on Nov. 19th

- Used Character Trait Chart from last day. Assigned a paragraph on character in class. This is due Nov. 19th.

Adequate example of a character paragraph (it uses informal language, repetition, and makes no comments).
I really liked the character Dally from The Outsiders. He's really kinda interesting He is brave, straightforward, and mature. First off, he's brave. Dally is brave because he pulls Johnny out of the burning church. Second, he's straightforward...blah blah blah blah. Dally is brave, mature, and straightforward.

Better example of a character paragraph (it uses Formal language, more effective sentences and makes some interpretive comments ).
In The Outsiders Dallas Winston is a character who captures the reader's attention because he is brave, straightforward, and mature. Bravery is a quality Dally exhibits most clearly when he saves his friend Johnny from a certain death in the church on Jay mountain. It's almost ironic that a convicted criminal can show that kind of caring for other people. In addition to his courage, Dally is also recognized as a person who is straightforward...

- KEY WORDS FOR CONNECTING SENTENCES!
