We began today with a half hour discussion in German. Oh sure, I did most of the talking, but every student had to say at least one thing in class.
We reviewed my ridiculous drawing last day (the one with the wimpy guy and the muscle man). That picture was used to remind us about modal auxiliary verbs. They are weak verbs that require strong verbs to provide them help (strong verbs always show up at the end of a sentence and they are always in their infinitive, or base, form).
We marked questions 7,8,9 together in class and I gave students a mark out of 19 for this.
We began to watch a music video by the German boy band Benny and the Jets: Ich liebe alles an dir.
No homework was given.
Wolfgang, well done: I heard you won you first match against Smithers. Best of luck on your next game!
Mr. Pfeiffer's blog is intended for students and parents, and allows them to check what lessons have been learned and what assignments have been given. Parents can email Mr. Pfeiffer apfeiffer@sd19.bc.ca . And if you're out of town and you can't remember the blog address, just google Revelstoke Secondary School; from our RSS page there's a link to this blog.

Intro German 11 -- Der Laestige Kellner
Last day we wrote down the intro notes for chapter 6. We also completed the first 5 questions from chapter 6.
Today I handed back the chapter 5 test marks.
Then we did a role-play (oral) activity called The Annoying Waiter.

Intro German 11 -- Udo Dudelmann
Today we reviewed two main grammatical points from Kapital 5: how to express weather properly and the plural of nouns.
We then moved on to the difference between Wie viel and Wie viele (how much and how many). Students did work on this.
Students completed an oral skit, where they telephoned one another discussing an upcoming visit or Besuch.
Finally, students were given their tentative term 1 grade for this class on a small post-it note.
FOR FRIDAY: students must complete #1 OR #2 on Page 162. This is a written dialogue or written letter. The letter should be about half a page long -- the dialogue should be longer.
FOR MONDAY: we'll review chapter 5 and complete the last few questions. We'll prepare for the chapter 5 test on Tuesday.
FOR TUESDAY: we'll write our chapter 5 test.

Intro German 11 -- Frieda Finkelface!
Today we prepared for our chapter 4 test for next day by reviewing the vocabulary and grammar.
BONUS QUESTION: Read the Land und Leute section on page 135. In it you'll learn about Germany's size in kilometers, population, and major cities. There will be a fill in the blank section on the test that will be on this section and it will be for bonus marks.
Viel Glück!

Intro German 11 -- Frau Simpson ist Schwanger!
Students handed in their homework from last day 15-19, chapter 4.
We learned and reviewed all of the German subjects. We spent a bunch of time doing oral work both in pairs and as a whole class.
Students worked on completing 22-24. I also handed out a chapter 4 "PRE TEST" -- which is a great way to prepare and study for our next unit test.
Our Chapter 4 test will be this Monday.
For Friday we will finish off the questions from chapter 4 and perhaps watch the chapter 4 video. In that episode Daniel will visit Sabine's house in order to work on his English homework. It's one of the only moments in the video series when somebody speaks English. It's quite funny when Daniel utters the phrase "I have problems with my bicycle" to Sabine.
