Thanks so much for a great semester of German. I had a BLAST teaching you and I hope you sign up for German 11 next year -- if we don't have enough people signed up, I would consider teaching a split class next year: in other words, a German 11/12 class.
Don't forget to save your money for the Spring 2013 trip to Deutschland!
Here are your final grades for IntroGerman 11. Term 3 is your final exam grade. Congrats on all your hard work. Click here to see your final marks!
Mr. Pfeiffer's blog is intended for students and parents, and allows them to check what lessons have been learned and what assignments have been given. Parents can email Mr. Pfeiffer apfeiffer@sd19.bc.ca . And if you're out of town and you can't remember the blog address, just google Revelstoke Secondary School; from our RSS page there's a link to this blog.

Intro German 11 -- Alopecia: it's an English word
Today we finished up learning about German commands and completed #17-20 (this is for homework if you didn't finish it in class).
Details of each and every class from now to the final exam were given. Students will continue to work through the end of chapter 8 and then chapter 9 in the last week.
Next day will begin with Chapter 9 intro notes and work. Then students will learn about verbs with separable prefixes (splitty verbs) and finally accusative prepositions.
Remember to utilize your final exam review booklet which I gave you last week. That should be a constant bit of homework for German and a great way to study for the final exam.
The final exam will include all chapters up to and including chapter 9.

Intro German 11 -- Iss dein Schnitzel!
Today we learned the chapter 8 concept of accusative pronouns. We took notes and reminded ourselves that nouns retain their gender in both the accusative and nominative case.
We then completed the three sets of questions following that section of chapter 8.
Finally we ended off the class starting to learn about Commands. We learned the familiar commands ( to one person) and the command to two people.

Students were assigned, last day, to complete up to and including number 4 from chapter 8.

Today we did an oral activity in which half the class enthusiastically spoke German.
We took notes on verbs with stem vowel changes and students were assigned questions 7,8,9, and 10. These will be due for homework.

Intro German 11 - Der Schinkenspeck schmeckt gut
Today we finished up chapter 7. Wir haben Schinkenspeckbrot gegessen! Der Schinkenspeck schmeckt lecker!
I reviewed the verbs gefallen, stehen, passen. Each of these verbs is followed by a person's name or the words mir/dir. Das rote Hemd steht dir gut (the red shirt suits you well!).
I reminded students to know the german verb reisen.
There will be a question on the chapter test that asks you to sort words to create a sentence. For example, "wollen/Katrin/ bei/bleiben/Wochen/ Sie/zwei "
The correctly sorted answer would be "Sie wollen zwei Wochen bei Katrin bleiben"
Study all the articles of clothing and their correct der, die, das. Study all the colours including the opposites: lang/kurz, bunt/eintönig, klein/gross, preiswert/teuer, weiß/schwarz, hell/dunkel.
Review and study the three new modal verbs: sollen, dürfen, können.
Review and study the future tense (i.e. the verb werden and all its forms)
