We signed out our new novels, Speak (by Laurie Halse Anderson) and began reading. We read to the middle of page 8.

Test Prep Day
Today we began preparing for our test first thing Thursday morning by working on a mock test.

Wanted Poster, Last scene of R&J, Provincial Exam prep
I read out several student paragraphs that compared Warm Bodies to Romeo and Juliet. There was class time to work on the Wanted Poster -- this assignment is for homework and due tomorrow.

We read a good chunk of Act 4 (sorry, my last post said we read all of Act 4 -- I should have said "we read all of Act 3).

End of the week post.
Today we finished the movie Warm Bodies.
Last day students began watching the movie Warm Bodies, students read to the end of Act 4, and students worked on their Romeo Wanted poster assignment.
Next Tuesday, we'll have class time to work on both the movie worksheet and the Wanted Poster (those will both be due on our long block next week).

Surprise quiz, Act 2 Scene 3
Today we read to the end of Act 2 scene 3. I handed back last day's work on Shakespearean language. Students worked on Romeo and Juliet questions. Those questions will be due at the end of tomorrow's long block.
We discussed the irony and paradox of the Friar's last two lines of the scene.

Elizabethan Language and the balcony scene
Today we did a worksheet on Shakespearean language that was handed in around 9:30.
We reviewed the terms soliloquy, sonnet, and aside.
We learned that the word 'wherefore' means why.
We discussed the famous lines: "Romeo Romeo Romeo wherefore art thou Romeo" and "Parting is such sweet sorrow that I shall say goodbye until tomorrow."
