English 12

Yesterday we continued our study of Orwell's 1984. We wrote a quiz (and marked it) on the first three chapters. Students were assigned to read to end of part 1 by Thursday of next week.

Specifically, we looked at the criminal case of child pornographer John Robin Sharpe and examined how he used (or abused) the novel to help him get acquitted of charges of possession of child pornography. Our discussion centred around the broader idea of the right to possess ones ideas, no matter how heretical.

Next Thursday, English 12 e exam in library. Today, we will be examining some things to do to prepare for the exam.
