We began with a quick review of last day by re-defining the terms verbal irony (sarcasm), jargon, and hyperbole.
Then, students wrote and handed in a personal response to the first two chapters of The Lovely Bones.
Then, a quick lesson was given on the importance of the opening sentence of a literary paragraph. Students began working on their paragraph assignment on humour in Kingsolver's "How Mr. Dewey Decimal."
Homework: Read to end of chapter 5 by Thursday, Kingsolver paragraph due on Thursday as well.
