Ich wünsche euch eine fröhliche Weihnachten und ein glückliches neues Jahre.
(I wish you a merry Christmas and a happy New Year).
I've missed a few blog entries as a result of being away. Frau Walsh did a great job working with you: you managed to get the first half of chapter 7 completed. Students completed up to and including question number 12 from chapter 7.
On Monday of this week,we went to Pam's kitchen where Goldy served us up a delicious plate of German food.
When we return from our two week break, we'll do our best to complete chapter 7,8, and 9 by the end of January.
Mr. Pfeiffer's blog is intended for students and parents, and allows them to check what lessons have been learned and what assignments have been given. Parents can email Mr. Pfeiffer apfeiffer@sd19.bc.ca . And if you're out of town and you can't remember the blog address, just google Revelstoke Secondary School; from our RSS page there's a link to this blog.

Intro German 11 -- Unser Deutsch ist Süß
Today's highlight was having Franzi and Vivien in class. That's right. . . REAL Germans to talk to (but boy were all of you shy!). I thought it nice when Udo fragt, "Wie ist unser Deutsch?" und Franzi antwortete "Ich finde dein Deutsch Süß." That's right: she thinks our German sounds 'sweet'.
Kapitel 6 Test next day
Here's your BLOG TIP -- the phrase "Sonst noch etwas?" means "anything else?" and is often said by a waiter/waitress at a restaurant.
Other than that, we reviewed all of chapter 6 and studied. Good luck on the test tomorrow and don't forget, we'll go to Pam's Kitchen on Monday last thing

Pam's Kitchen Visit POSTPONED
Bad news. Have to postpone our visit to Pam's kitchen until Monday. She's super busy on Dec. 8th, plus I might have to be working in the office.
We'll go next Monday and enjoy a very late lunch or early dinner at around 2:15pm.

Intro German 11 -- Barbie Girl in Danish
Today we learned the difference between the verbs kennen und wissen and completed #21 and 22 from kapitel 6.
We also listened to some music and wondered why Europeans make odd sounds in the middle of their songs.
Finally, I handed out a sheet of exercises from chapter 6. This sheet is for homework and is due at the beginning of class tomorrow.

Intro German 11 -- der Krampus
Today we completed p. 182-184.
We began with an introductory oral activity.
We took some notes in which I taught the irregular verb 'essen'. I also reinforced the proper sentence openings: "Am Montag", "Zum Frühstück". The focus is on the words 'am' and 'zum'.
We also learned the concept of negation (which is discussed on p. 183). We completed a worksheet on negation. Absent students should begin the questions on p. 184.
We also learned about some German Weihnachten (Xmas) traditions including the demonic character of Krampus who not only is horrifically frightening, but apparently beats children on Dec. 6th if they've been bad. Have a look at this link to read even more about Krampus (aka Knecht Ruprecht). Oh and in case you want to have another look, check out this picture of Krampus again:
